Yahoo On An Acquisition Spree
Taking huge leaps forward, which seems to be a complete strategy shift, Yahoo Inc. is acquiring small startups at a lightening speed. The latest buzz from the silicon valley is that these acquisitions are part of CEO, Marissa Mayer’s ultimate focus shift to mobile and content. With all the recent acquisitions, Yahoo will now have the ample resources at hand to move into the desired direction.
Yahoo Acquired MileWise & GoPollGo
Yahoo acquired couple of startups today morning: MileWise and GoPollGo. Milewise is a frequent flier search startup. Mayer plans to bring in the Milewise team to New York in order to join the “Stamped” team, which is another recent acquisition by Yahoo. The team will be focused on mobile development. GoPollGo, which is the other hunt by Yahoo, is a polling tool and app. GoPollGo is already based out of America in Palo Alto, CA and will continue to function from there.
Yahoo Recent Acquisitions
Yahoo bought these two companies just one week after acquiring Astrid, an organization app for mobile, and only few months after acquiring Summly, a news summarization app, which was created by a teenage founder. Mayer seems to be extremely focused on her strategy that is considerate of mobile and content and looks to make frequent advances with probably more buy outs. This is certainly turning out an interesting path taken by Yahoo and in the coming days, for sure, there will be more news from Yahoo!
