WHO BID FOR DECCAN CHARGERS

Finally, BCCI- the IPL governing body, has sold the discharged Deccan Chargers franchise to the new owners in the form of SUN TV. As per the BCCI, there were four firms who filed for the tender in order to buy the new IPL Team. Other than Sun TV Network and PVP Ventures, Jaypee Group and Videocon had bought the tenders but surprisingly they did not submit the final bid. Later, it was between the Sun TV Network and the PVP Ventures, who both placed the bids.

SUN TV NETWORK ARE THE OWNER OF DECCAN CHARGERS

The Sun TV network won the Hyderabad franchise of the IPL, bidding Rs 85.05 crores per year (around $15.9m) for a 5-year deal. The Sun TV Network obviously defeated the PVP Ventures in the bidding who offered Rs 69.03 crores per year (around $12.9m). Unfortunately, this was PVP Ventures’ second consecutive failed bid to gain the IPL franchise post dismissal of the Hyderabad Deccan Chargers.

SUN TV NETWORKS AND THE DECCAN CHARGERS’ PLAYERS

It has been reported by the BCCI that Sun TV, the new owner of IPL franchise, has been given the time till the end of the month to sign contracts with those Chargers’ players whom they would like to retain. This could turn out to be a real bad news for the players who do not reach to an agreement with the franchise as they will become free agents and go into the pool for next year’s auction, which also means going jobless for the IPL job for a year!
