ROWDY RATHORE MOVIE REVIEW
Actor and Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar makes a comeback into the action films with ROWDY RATHORE !!
The Film, Rowdy Rathore, is an eighties show – as it used to be back then in Bollywood. Well, two interesting things about the movie are- first, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one its producers. Till now Bhansali has been associated with movies such as Black, Guzaarish, Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas, and now happen to produce a typical Akshay Kumar masala movie is totally what Bhansali is not known for. One can easily understand Bhansali’s stance given that he spent huge money on movies such as Saawariya and Guzaarish, and clearly ended up shedding a lot of moolah.
Second, there’s is Akshay Kumar in the movie. For last few years, Akshay Kumar has been doing mindless comedies and with Rowdy Rathore he has left the comedy trail in order to try out a machoman makeover. Rowdy Rathore is directed by Prabhu Deva, who also directed Wanted in 2009 and supposedly brought Salman Khan’s career back on track !!
Rowdy Rathore is a ramake of 2006 Telugu blockbuster, Vikramarkudu. Vikram Rathore (Akshay) is an honest cop who engages in war against the evil gang-lord (Nasser) of the village. The goons kill Vikram and it’s time for Vikram’s lookalike Shiva (Akshay number 2), a rowdy crook, to take the cop’s place after a convenient plot spin. Rowdy becomes Rathore and kills off all the baddies.
Sonakshi Sinha is irrelevant because the film is an Akshay Kumar showcase. In between, the script throws in Sonakshi Sinha for the naach-gaana visuals. Like all Akshay Kumar movies, Rowdy Rathore is a film that assumes you would keep your mind at home before you come to the movie hall. Overall, Rowdy Rathore is a typical bollywood masala movie.
