Ivory Coast striker, Didier Drogba, confirmed that he will leave newly-crowned European champions Chelsea when his contract expires at the end of June. Didier Drogba certainly brought down the curtain on a successful career at Chelsea by announcing that he would be leaving the club after 8 years in West London.

The 34-year-old, Drogba, leaves the Chelsea Football Club on a high after scoring an important equalizer against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final and later converting the decisive penalty in a dramatic shoot-out post extra-time. “I wanted to put an end to all the speculation and confirm that I am leaving Chelsea,” Drogba said on the Chelsea club’s website.

Drogba scored 157 times in 341 appearances, making him the Chelsea club’s fourth all-time leading scorer, while his 34 European goals are a club record. Other than his Champions League heroics, Drogba also scored in the FA Cup final as Chelsea beating Liverpool at Wembley. Speculations are Drogba will be moving to join that Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua where he would join up with former Chelsea team mate Anelka who left in January.

No doubt, Drogba is a big loss for Chelsea and the club will be soon looking for a strong player to fill his spot. One thing is for sure, Chelsea fans around the world will miss seeing this superb player in the sea blue jersey !!
