DECCAN CHARGERS CAPTAIN SANGAKKARA PRAISES AKRAM AND ZAHEER
In a candid chat with the media, Deccan Chargers captain, Kumar Sangakkara said facing former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram and Indian pacer Zaheer Khan were the toughest. “I think I only faced a few overs of Wasim Akram but that was pretty tough. Zaheer Khan was tough to face,” the Deccan Chargers captain said.
When a budding young cricketer asked Sangakkara- how to play long innings and score a century, he replied, “First get off the mark and get one run. Then its about basically doing very similar things over and over again in your innings. Watching the ball, playing according to what the ball tells you to do. Rotate the strike. If you get a bad ball, try to hit it for a boundary”. He also said- “You have to think and plan about the bowler whom you want to take on, when to slog and when to defend”
The Deccan Chargers skipper was disappointed that his team could not perform well during IPL 5, but assured confidently that things will turn out better next season. He also mentioned- “Personally, I would have loved to score more runs, but it did not happen. Hopefully, I can play to my potential in coming seasons”.
